2025 Bridger & Crosscut Trail Survey Results

Thanks to everyone who filled out our recent survey about the three new trails we built at Crosscut and Bridger Bowl — Golden Rule, Big Thigh Country, and Gnomadic. Your feedback has been incredible, and it’s clear these trails are already making a huge impact in our riding community. We received nearly 400 thoughtful responses, and we can’t thank you enough for taking the time to share your experiences.

This survey is how we listen. Every one of us has a favorite trail, a feature we’d like to see more of, or an opinion on what’s missing. By collecting this feedback, we’re able to guide the conversation about mountain biking in Bozeman with real data. That means better advocacy with land managers, better prioritization of future projects, and more trails that reflect what our community actually wants.

Key Takeaways for The Dirt Concern:

  • The trails are a hit. Riders rated their overall experience on the new trails at 9.2 out of 10. Both Gnomadic (8.9) and Big Thigh Country (8.7) stood out as favorites, while Golden Rule (8.0) was still well loved but received a few more suggestions for improvement. Safety was also rated highly at nearly 9 out of 10.

  • Our community skews towards core riders. Most respondents were intermediate to advanced, many biking multiple times a week, and typically falling in the 25–40 range. In short, these are passionate, dedicated riders who plan to be part of this scene for the long haul.

  • Future demand is clear. The strongest call was for more purpose-built, directional, mountain bike-specific trails, with heavy interest in intermediate flow trails and advanced freeride-style options. Riders also want stronger connections and better signage across the system to make linking trails easier.

  • Small fixes, big impact. While overall enthusiasm was overwhelming, riders did flag a few spots where signage could be improved and where certain trail merges felt a little confusing. These are small tweaks that can make a big difference in user experience. New signage has already arrived and will be up before next season.

Key Takeaways for the Community

  • We heard you loud and clear — these trails are working, and you want more of them! Riders love the flow, creativity, and climbing access these new builds provide, and the community is already asking for an expanded system that doubles down on variety, connectivity, and purpose-built design.

  • This feedback is incredibly powerful for us as we work with land managers. Being able to point to real data and say “the community wants more flow, freeride, and directional trails” makes our case stronger than ever. But none of this happens without your support. Trail building takes time, effort, and resources, and if you want to see more projects like Golden Rule, Big Thigh Country, and Gnomadic, the best way to help is to get involved.
