Group Ride on the Bangtail

  • Brackett Creek Trailhead Sedan, MT United States (map)

Trailhead: Brackett Creek Trailhead

Join SWMMBA's Bozeman chapter, The Dirt Concern, for a no-drop group ride of the Bangtail Divide, Montana's only IMBA EPIC trail!

What makes a trail worthy of the International Mountain Bicycling Association's "EPIC" designation?
"The IMBA EPICS designation denotes a true backcountry riding experience. IMBA EPICS are what many mountain bikers live for and make travel plans around: immersive rides that are technically and physically challenging, beautiful to behold and worthy of celebration. EPICS are demanding, majority singletrack trail experiences in a natural setting and at least 20 miles in length."

We think this description perfectly encompasses Bangtail. It is a beautiful and challenging single track adventure. Its right in our backyard, and we want you to come spend the day riding it with us.
Our group ride leaders are excited to show you the way!

The plan for Saturday is to meet at the Brackett Creek TH at 8am. We will then shuttle bikes and riders to the Stone Creek TH and get the ride started. Bangtail is 22 miles with ~4,000 feet of climbing, and we are planning for 5-7 hours to complete the ride. We will be taking plenty of rest and snack breaks and generally taking our time to smell the wildflowers and enjoy the views. Expect a full and challenging day, so please plan and pack accordingly. (Check out the packing list below). Post ride, plan to stick around to celebrate an awesome ride. The Dirt Concern will have some cold refreshment and rehydration for everyone to enjoy!
