Clinic Description:
Want to lead group rides, complete a solo adventure, or just not depend on others to know where you are or where you’re going? Then this clinic is for you! The Dirt Concern has partnered with onX to build the confidence of our local MTB ladies by providing a trail navigation clinic. This clinic will cover the basics of the global navigation satellite system (GNSS), introduce and demonstrate onX Backcountry navigation techniques, and provide a hands-on outdoor activity where participants will utilize their new onX skills to navigate through a fun group ride. Participants will need to come prepared for indoor and outdoor activities utilizing their individual smartphones. A 1 year onX Backcountry subscription will be provided free of charge to each participant courtesy of our lovely local onX partners! Prize raffle by backcountry.com and free appetizers will be at It Will Always Be That Way bar for our after ride social! Bring your flower power 1970’s outfit and money for a cold drink!

Outdoor Ride & Navigation Session: 1 hour 6:30-7:30pm
We'll ride from onX as a large group to the old dump trailhead, and start out by completing the first easter egg (take a large group photo and tag onX/thedirtconcern). We'll then break out into our four small groups and head out as small teams.
To make sure each participant gets to navigate, we'll implement the leap-frog follow the leader protocol. Riding in a line, every five minutes the leader drops to the back of the group and allows the next in line to navigate to the next easter egg. This will encourage all participants to make marker notes, watch their individual tracks, and navigate to a point their group hasn't visited yet.
