Our Projects

Copper City Trails

Copper City Trails is a project by the Southwest Montana Mountain Bike Association in partnership the Bureau of Land Management. The plan calls for 18 miles of bike-optimized trails, open to hikers and trail runners. The scope encompasses beginner-friendly trails, xc ridge trails, flow trails, two downhill-only trails, and a skinny technical loop. There will also be a youth-focused skills park with dirt jumps and a pump track catering to all ages and abilities.

Phase 1 was an amazing success, with over 200 people showing up for the grand opening of the Green Eagle trail on National Public Lands Day 2017. We are currently mid-way through Phase 2, which has produced 10 more miles of trail, 2 of which are bike-only directional trails! We are currently fundraising for the completion of Phase 2, including a vault toilet at the trailhead, expanded parking, infrastructure improvements, an educational kiosk, and signage. Our fundraising goal for the completion this phase and Phase 3 is $65,000, and we need your help!

Westlake Dirt Jumps

The dirt jumps are located at Westlake Park in Bozeman, MT adjacent to the Gallatin Valley BMX pump track. They are entirely volunteer built and maintained. With four jump lines ranging in ability and skill level, there’s something for everyone—even the kids.

In 2016, volunteers led by Richard Hayes dedicated more than 900 hours and 130 machine hours to rebuild the jumps. We held a grand opening dirt jam party under the lights in the fall of that year. We plan to host this family friendly event again next year.

To support this project, please consider a donation or volunteering for a trail day.

Pump Track

The pump track at Gallatin Regional Park, has been volunteer built and maintained since 2011. It is a great place to have fun and practice skills with friends or your family!

In 2018, SWMMBA ever pump track race in Bozeman will take place Friday, June 1st as well as a major renovation to the west most section of the pump track. This renovation will include table tops, wider spacing, progression drops, a shade shelter, and a tool shed. Scheduled maintenance are Mondays evenings 5:30pm til and last until dark.
